If you've been tracking your build properly, you'll have dozens of defects, variations, photos, documents, and communications. That's the point — thorough documentation protects you. But finding that one cracked tile you photographed three months ago? That used to mean scrolling through tabs.
Search Everything, Instantly
The new search bar sits at the top of every project page. Type a keyword and results appear instantly, grouped by type:
- Defects — search by title, description, or location
- Variations — search by title or description
- Communications — search by subject, message, or contact name
- Documents — search by filename or type
- Site Visits — search by notes
Click any result to jump straight to the right tab with your data in view.
Keyboard Shortcut
Press Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on Mac) to instantly focus the search bar from anywhere in the project. Press Escape to close. It's the same shortcut developers use — fast and familiar.
Why Search Matters for Disputes
When you're on a call with Fair Trading and they ask "when did you first report the waterproofing issue?", you need that answer in seconds, not minutes. Search turns Guardian from a recording tool into a retrieval tool — and in a dispute, fast retrieval wins.
Open your project and try searching for any defect or document.
